Canada/U.S. Medical Reciprocity Agreement
WGD was contracted by a transportation agency to conduct business analysis and define written requirements to implement the Canada/U.S. Medical Reciprocity Agreement which involved the business need to screen all commercial class licensed drivers for medical conditions that restrict driving in the U.S. but allowed for the same in Canada. »

Best Practice Study
WGD was contracted to undertake a best practices study to determine case management best practices being applied by human rights organizations nationally and internationally. The study included a review of legislative acts and the case management standards inherent in the legislation or through regulation. The study also involved comprehensive interviews with human rights organizations to determine best practices being applied. »

Business Case/Cost Benefit Analysis
Over a four month period, WGD worked with the client to prepare a comprehensive business case in obtaining funding for technology investment. This included the preparation of an extensive cost benefit analysis detailing service improvements, cost benefits, human resource impact, and options for cost recovery. »

 

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING


Evaluation/Audit
WGD was contracted to conduct an audit/evaluation of information technology systems for operations and employment equity departments. Consulting services included a documentary review of business processes and procedures, and technical documentation, as well as interviews and meetings with government staff. »

Build and Test Process
Overall project management of a project designed to define the client's build and test processes. This involved a comprehensive consultation process with key stakeholders across the organization, and will lead to design workshops. »

Management Information Systems
WGD provided full project management of the client's strategic management information system that was designed to integrate current data repositories and provide improved statistic reporting. The project involved risk assessment, privacy impact assessment, a sound architecture, solid business requirements gathering and significant coordination. »

Re-engineering Project
WGD undertook a workflow analysis of the client medical review program through a facilitation process with the objective to identify business opportunities and productivity gains through both process re-engineering and the investment in technology. This involved undertaking a full review of business and system documentation, facilitating a number of meetings with the business area, and the preparation of a comprehensive report. »

Design and Development of On-Line Catalogue
WGD was hired to web enable both the administration of the Product Catalogue and the order fulfillment process. The objective was to allow staff access to both applications via the intranet using a commercial browser. The requirements for the product catalogue included providing a workflow approval process to allow the business area to obtain formal approvals of new products, update product descriptions and prices. The order processing application requirements included control of access to functionality using roles, user controlled administrative functionality, the ability of management staff to assign and reassign work, automatic notification to management of unfulfilled orders within a user established time frame. »

Electronic Service Delivery Study
WGD was contracted to undertake an electronic service delivery (ESD) study which involved integration of the clients existing Case Management Information System (CMIS) with a suite of web applications. The five areas identified for the study included providing a single browser-based interface to the client in the form of a portal, the ability to suit an inquiry or complaint electronically, and for complainants, respondents and their representatives to inquire on the status of their case, and to develop an inquiry “wizard”. »

Following the initial study and submission of the WGD report, WGD was contracted to identify all ESD opportunities. This was accomplished by meeting with all business owners across the organization to examine the range of possibilities, the benefits to each, and a high level cost estimate for each initiative. »
